Yxng Bane, K-Trap • Are You Mad

My first project with GRM Daily featuring a music video involving Yxng Bane and K-Trap was a milestone—not only because it marked the start of my journey working in the music video industry, but also because it was for Yxng Bane’s high-energy track Are You Mad, directed by the visionary KLVDR. This collaboration was a blend of raw talent and creative ambition, and being part of it was unforgettable.

This was the first time I’ve ever been on a professional set. I arrived on set with all my gear tested the day before. Even so, the receiver in my drone stopped working. 5 minutes before I had to film the artists, I had my drone completely disassembled and I was reflashing the firmware on my TBS Nano receiver. Spoiler alert: I made the shot on time!

The energy of Are You Mad was undeniable—a track that celebrates confidence and power with lyrics like “Are you mad? Are they onto me? We got bags full of gold.” The visuals needed to match this boldness, blending gritty realism with a sense of authority. That’s where my FPV drone came in.

Before heading to the set, I was told we’d be filming inside a large warehouse, so I planned for wide, freestyle-style flying. However, once on location, the space was much smaller than expected. This required me to adapt my flying style, focusing on tight, controlled maneuvers that suited the environment.

The director, KLVDR, wanted the drone shots to serve dual purposes. On one hand, he wanted FPV freestyle moves to create dynamic cuts and transitions, adding an edgy, unpredictable vibe to the video. On the other hand, he envisioned using the drone to simulate an army surveillance feed, adding effects in post-production to make it feel like the artists were being watched by military-grade tech. This creative twist gave my drone work a narrative layer that aligned perfectly with the song’s themes of power and domination.

Flying in such a confined space was a challenge, but it also pushed me creatively. I had to balance capturing smooth, cinematic moments with the aggressive energy needed for freestyle moves; and of course, without crashing into the artists.

K-Trap’s performance brought his signature grit to the track, and Yxng Bane’s confident delivery tied everything together. Seeing their chemistry on set while capturing them from unique FPV angles made the project incredibly rewarding.

Working with KLVDR’s direction elevated the experience. His vision was sharp and innovative, and he pushed everyone on set to deliver their best. He is one of my favourite director I’ve been working with. My drone shots became an integral part of the storytelling, adding depth and movement that amplified the video’s intensity.

This project wasn’t just my first music video with K-Trap—it was an opportunity to blend technical skill with artistry, creating visuals that embodied the boldness of Are You Mad.

We also have to set everything back into its context. This was filmed not even 2 years after I’d start flying FPV.
